Starbuck’s cranberry bliss bars are everything you need to spice up a cold winter’s day! These bars are actually blondies – rich, dense, and sweet dessert bars that resemble a traditional brownie only with brown sugar and vanilla to substitute the cocoa. Starbucks has some of the best recipes out there and they generously released their original banana bread recipe I posted here but haven’t revealed their cranberry bliss bars… yet.

So we had to do a little bit of digging to find a nearly identical recipe and the one we found is right on the bullet! These cranberry bliss bars taste exactly the same, if not TEN TIMES better. I have to admit that these are totally addictive and taste like nothing I’ve ever tried before! They are filled with white chocolate, cranberries, and a hint of orange. All wonderful flavors of the season that taste delicious when combined together. The frosting is made of cream cheese, white chocolate, and freshly grated orange zest.

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of recipes to secret menus for not only Starbucks, but also Tim Hortons, McDonalds, even copycat recipes for the Costco muffins. The copycat recipes taste nearly identical and makes me feel like I’m cheating without getting caught! I’ve been tempted to try of the Costco muffins recipe for a while now. When I do, I’ll be sure to post it along with some really pretty pictures. But for now, try these holiday inspired Starbucks cranberry bliss bars:

Chocolate Dipped Wafers With Nuts and Coconut

chocolate-dipped-wafers-recipe-holiday-easy-treat-snack-better-baking-bible-blog

Don’t you just LOVE no-bake desserts? It’s almost like cheating when it comes to baking! These homemade chocolate dipped wafer cookies sprinkled with coconut, and nuts, are so easy to make and completely customizable. If you want to make these for Valentine’s Day, simply swap the nuts for pink and red sprinkles. For Easter, dip them in Chocolate and then sprinkle over crushed Cadbury’s Mini Eggs. You can also alter them for Christmas, and use red and green sprinkles. Your options are only limited to your imagination!

The recipe I use for the filling is the exact same recipe I used for my chocolate salami recipe, just this time I didn’t roll up the wafer sheets. These freeze very well, and can sit for a long time – chocolate can practically last forever!

Chocolate Rum Salami with Petite Beurre Cookies, Dark Chocolate, and Raisins

chocolate salami wafer sheets cokoladna slatka salama recipe rum raisins better baking bible

Chocolate salami is originally an Italian dessert popular across Europe that looks like a real salami, but it’s definitely not a meat product! This sweet salami is made from dark chocolate, broken petite beurre cookies, butter, raisins, eggs, and a bit of rum. The term “salami” simply comes from it’s physical resemblance. The chocolate is formed into a long cylinder and sliced to serve just like a real salami! The bright bits of petite beurre cookies resemble the white flecks of fat seen in salami.

This chocolate salami is a fast-to-make no-bake dessert that tastes delicious, and freezes well which means you can easily prepare it ahead of time. It looks impressive and complicated to make, although its easy and tastes absolutely delicious.

This recipe makes about 4 chocolate salamis, I previously made another version here, although I believe this version turned out much better. The store-bought wafer sheets you need for the recipe should look like the ones seen here. These can be bought anywhere in Europe, but can also be bought at European supermarkets in America.

Banana Bread Lamingtons – Easy Holiday Dessert

banana bread lamingtons easy holiday christmas cupavci coconut 3

These banana bread lamingtons are a delicious spin-off of the traditional vanilla squares rolled in chocolate and coconut. Real lamingtons are delicious, but being a big fan of banana bread, I would say this banana/choco/coconut combo tastes even better!

For the banana bread recipe, I used the original Starbucks recipe they use to make their banana bread that retails for $5 a slice! I made a few slight alterations, baked it in a rectangular cake sheet, cut into squares, dipped in chocolate, and finally rolled the banana bread suqares in coconut. Voila! An easy dessert to make that looks impressive, and tastes absolutely delicious!

Lamingtons are a traditional Australian dessert named after Lord Lamington, who served as Governor of Queensland from 1896 to 1901. Historians say that Lord Lamington actually did not like lamingtons and reffered to them as “those bloody poofy wooly biscuits”. Maybe he would have liked our version better!

Madarica Cake Recipe

A traditional Croatian chocolate cake with thin layers of chocolate and crust.

Ingredients:

For Cake Crust

* If you can’t buy Podravka Madarica Cake Crust, then use this recipe

  1. 5 ½ cups all purpose flour
  2. 2 egg whites
  3. 180g sour cream
  4. 1 tsp baking powder
  5. 1 ¼ cup granulated sugar
  6. ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
For Cake Filling

  1. 4 cups milk
  2. 5 tbsp all-purpose flour
  3. 5 tbsp cocoa powder
  4. 1 tsp vanilla extract or vanilla sugar
  5. 1.5 cups sugar
  6. 50g dark chocolate
  7. ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  8. 1 tbsp rum
For Cake Glaze

  1. 100g dark chocolate
  2. 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  3. 4 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions:

To Make Cake Layers

  1. In a mixing bowl using an electric mixer, beat together the butter, sugar, egg whites, and sour cream until light and fluffy. Gradually add in flour and baking powder and knead to form a dough.
  2. Preheat oven to 356 F. Separate dough into 6 equal parts and roll out as thin as possible into rectangles on a piece of parchment paper. Transfer to a baking sheet and place another piece of parchment paper on top (to avoid burning the top) of each layer and bake each layer for 8 minutes. The layers must not turn golden, they must stay pale!

To Make Cake Filling

  • On medium heat, bring milk, sugar, and vanilla to a boil. Separate one part of the milk and whisk in cocoa and flour. Add the mixture into the boiling milk and add in the dark chocolate, always stirring until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in butter and rum. Cover with tin foil until cooled.
To Make Cake Glaze

  • In a pot over medium heat, melt chocolate with butter and oil and whisk together until combined.
To Assemble

  • Place the first cake layer onto a baking tray and evenly spread one part of filling. Cover with second layer and repeat until finished, making sure the last layer is a dough layer. Pour the hot glaze over the whole cake and transfer cake to fridge to chill overnight. The next day, cut cake into small rectangles and serve!

Looking for a healthy low-calorie fall dessert? These walnut stuffed oven baked apples make the perfect treat for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Sunday brunch, or just about any time of the day or year! The recipe is easy to make and only requires a few simple ingredients you most likely already have in your pantry.

Not a fan of walnuts? You definitely should be! Walnuts are an excellent source of ant-inflammatory omega-3 essential fatty acids, rich in antioxidants and are a very good source of manganese and cooper. They are also the healthiest of nuts you can eat, and are very filling. I have to admit, after eating one of these apples I was definitely stuffed and satisfied!
If you are on a vegan diet or lactose intolerant, you can easily substitute the milk with almond or soya milk. Having an adults-only party? Spike these apples with rum or Irish whiskey to get the party started!
